Description
This activity provides an enriching experience that combines cultural immersion and nature exploration. It is great for families with young children, couples, or anyone that wants to learn about nature and rural life in the Naxos countryside during an easy hike.
Begin your journey in the picturesque village of Damalas, where you will visit a local ceramic workshop and an old olive press, witnessing traditional crafts and techniques first-hand. Continue your adventure with a gentle hike through the hills, discovering a variety of herbs, flowers, and trees. Along the way you will be engaged in identifying different species and observing the local wildlife.
The hike concludes in the village of Damarionas at the Naxos Bee Farm. Here, you will have the unique opportunity to see a beehive, learn about honey production, and taste delicious honey-based treats. This educational hike is perfect for getting to know the natural beauty and local culture of Naxos while enjoying a memorable day out.
Your guide Natasha Chatziioannou:
Natasha is an environmental educator with a degree in Environmental Sciences and a Master's in Environmental Education. Starting her career at 15, she has worked in tropical, arctic, and Mediterranean climates, creating programs for Cycladic associations, NGOs, and social cooperatives, and designing Erasmus+ projects for youth and adult education.
She has trained in sustainability, nature connection, permaculture, nutrition, ecosystem design, nature guiding, travel guiding, community building, and social economy. Now living in Naxos, she draws inspiration from the Cycladic ecosystem, with a mission to restore our connection with nature.
This excursion includes a free transfer to and from your hotel from Naxos town, Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna areas. After your booking, Natasha will contact you to arrange the details.
