If you're looking for a traditional and fun experience unique to Naxos, book this tour asap! Sofia was an amazing host and made this tour so special for my husband and I. She even went above and beyond by recommending her family's favourite spots and restaurants on the island to complete our Naxos visit. The tasting exceeded our expectations. We were given generous amounts of local cheeses, spreads, desserts and snacks to pair nicely with our Kitron and other local liquors. You will NOT go thirsty with this tour. This family owned distillery treats its' guests like family, the hospitality was the best we'd received throughout our entire two week vacation in the Cyclades. We had a great time on the distillery tour. Sofia is an excellent host, very knowledgeable and a fun sense of humor too. In the evening after the tour, we visited the shop in town and were introduced to more of the family. The food pairing and story telling were exceptional!

Absolutely recommend this tour! Sofia is one-of-a-kind! She told us all about her family and their history in the community. We laughed, and ate so much! It was fun pairing the different liquors with different food items and learning the distillation process. Great value!

We had a fantastic time on this tour! Sofia is an absolute delight, so funny and generous. There were only three of us on the tour, so it felt very personal as we asked questions and learned all about the process of making Kitron. We got to view one of the orchards and the distillation equipment, and sample more food and drinks than we could handle! All the drinks were thoughtfully explained and paired with delicious local foods! A member of our group has Celiac's, but Sofia's father also cannot have gluten, so she was extremely knowledgeable about it and easily swapped out necessary foods with gluten-free alternatives. A very unique product, and definitely worth exploring while you're in Naxos!

This was a great experience. My buddy and I were lucky enough to get the experience just for ourselves, but even if there were multiple people it would still be a great experience. Sofia was such a great host showing us everything in the distillery and feeding us the best food and drinks. Suffice it to say, it was a fun walk back to our hotel afterwards. I highly recommend.

A fantastic afternoon. Although we had some problems finding a taxi to take us to the distillery, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It's a family-run business and Sofia was a brilliant guide, telling us about her families' history with the distillery and showing us the stills, bottling and processing of the fruit, meeting up with her father and brother. then leading us a few yards into the orchard with the warm sun, the intoxicating smell from the ripening citron and butterflies and enormous (and quite harmless) violet carpenter bees milling around to feed on the blossom. Then back to the veranda for a delicious lunch and samples of ouzo, raki and the various liqueurs. An afternoon of stories, laughter, great company and some truly inspired food and drink pairings (especially the different kinds of citron paired with dried figs and marzipan). I cannot recommend this highly enough.

This is a MUST DO in Naxos! Sophia is so good at her job and so personable, she did a great job at telling the story of her family and kept us engaged. She is also just such a nice person, she invited us to her family’s store by the port later. The food is also delicious and it was so cool to try the citron drink (that you can only get in Naxos!)

What a wonderful tour! A very interesting discussion of a local business with a great history, and a delicious tasting of liqueurs and products, all very specific to Naxos. Sofia is a wonderful tour guide, warm, friendly and charming, and talks about the distillery’s history as well as her own personal experiences growing up in the family business. Also- I have a gluten allergy and had brought my own bread for the tasting, but when I told Sofia, she had gluten free products brought out for me to eat, which was so lovely. We left happy and relaxed, with new knowledge about foods that are specific to Naxos. This is a wonderful experience, highly recommended!

Sofia was absolutely amazing with her hospitality, knowledge and enthusiasm for what she does. She shared snippets of stories about her family and their passion for distillery and we were immediately put at ease and treated like friends. The food was spectacular and the Kitron was utterly delicious. It has made our stay in Naxos a little more special - to the little details of making sure we had photos of our experience. With her energy and passion she will immerse you completely in the family distillery, from the visit to the garden to the distillation processes to the tasting in which you can taste a lot of different liqueurs (all very good!). All accompanied by a rich amount of typical foods of the island of Naxos (local cheeses, olives, figs and more). It's like having a chat with a friend while eating good food and drinking Kitron.

This was such a fun experience! We didn’t know anything about citron (the fruit, the drinks, the process, you name it) and Sofia taught us everything while also being a warm, funny, energetic host. You could tell she had a passion for Naxos and her family business and she made the whole thing so engaging.

Sofia was the perfect host and guide. She told the history of her family’s distillery in such a fun way. The location is picturesque, and the small group tour felt very personalized. The distillery is operational, but we never felt in the way as we walked around: it seems everyone is family here. And of course, the citron, ouzo, raki, and food pairings were incredible. Yiamas!

I highly recommend this distillery tour to anyone wishing to learn about Naxos’s famous liqueur, kitron, eat delicious local food, and enjoy some laughs over drinks. Sofia’s family owns and operates one of the only distilleries that makes kitron in the world, and her family has done so over several generations. Sofia was very welcoming to me and my husband, and as there was only one other couple on the tour, our experience felt very personalized. Sofia is knowledgeable about the technical and historical aspects of kitron-making, but also a warm and funny hostess. We would do this experience again the next time we are in Naxos. It is conveniently located in Naxos town (i.e., Χώρα). We are sure to stock up on our kitron liqueur and sweets before leaving the island.

Just book it. Our time with Sofia was the highlight of our stay on Naxos. We had so many amazing liquors, delicious food, and so many laughs. It was a perfect way to spend a few hours and learn a lot about the local delicious kitron.

If you are anywhere on Naxos island- You HAVE to book this wonderful tour. Very informative from the growing of Kitron to the bottling of the product! The best part is sitting down with Sofia and having the many different tastings paired perfectly with products made on Naxos Island. Sofia is a wonderful hostess for her multi-generational family business and the location is just a short ride from the port area.

It is not mentioned on experience page but every excursion is actually private which was a very pleasant surprise! Sofia is a great host and it was very inspiring to hear how their family business is being passed from generation to generation and every family member keeps enhancing it and adding new twists into it. WOW! You simply must pay a visit to the distillery while in Naxos. Sofia is simply wonderful, this is probably the best tasting I have ever been to, and I have been to many all over the world! The distillery tour with Sofia was one of our favorite experiences from our trip to Greece! She was fun to be around AND very knowledgeable about her family business. We learned about the citron harvest and distilling processes, but also about raki! We ended up buying a bottle of each to take home with us... not just because we loved the products, but because of the memories we'll have of the experience. It truly felt like we made a new friend on the tour and tasting! When we come back to Naxos, we will definitely visit Sofia and the distillery again!

This tour was the highlight of my husband’s and my trip to Naxos. We had a wonderful time learning about Kitron and other Naxian liqueurs from Sofia, who is a 4th generation descendent of this fully family run distillery. She was so informative, fun, and all around a gracious host. The snacks provided with the tasting were delicious and often homemade, which was a very special touch. We left feeling like we made a friend on the island, and we are eager to visit the family again when we return to Naxos.

Sofia’s distillery tour was the highlight of our trip to Greece. I had never heard of citron prior to my visit and it has quickly become a favorite. Sofia was so welcoming and clearly passionate about her family’s business. You could tell she put great thought into her tour and that she was proud of her product and her culture.

Sofia is very fun but also very professional. She will tell you all about the process of the distillery as well as the culture of Naxos and her family as it relates to the distillery. We tried many types of Naxos spirits made there (not just citron) which was very cool. We really liked that she included many samples of Naxos food along with the alcohol, which was very tasty and well-paired. You should not eat right before coming to enjoy it to the fullest extent (we didn’t, and it became a very nice lunch for us). You should definitely do this tour if you are in Naxos, you will learn much about not only the spirits but also the food and culture.

The Promponas Distillery visit was an incredible experience and definitely a highlight of our trip to Greece! Sofia was an excellent guide, and it was clear how passionate she is about her family's business. The tasting plates she laid out were delicious, with cheeses, jams, and breads sourced directly from Naxos or broader Greece, and she describes the background of each. And of course, the Kitron and other spirits were amazing, and we learned so much about the island and the business, loved the family feel and the ambiance of the distillery. Beyond the tour, Sofia has made us feel so welcome in Naxos and I highly recommend booking this tour!

Sofia was the friendliest host! She even made a tasting for us today even though there weren't scheduled due to the ouzo filling in bottles process done today. Not only was she knowledgeable about her family’s Citron production (which has been in business since 1915), she was personable and set up a unique experience where my wife and I were able to enjoy pairings of their family’s brand of spirits (including Ouzo, different types of Citron and Rakhi) with local bites. I could not recommend this more. Trust me if you’re on the island and she has an opening you should take it. I will be telling all of my friends and family about this amazing tasting.
