Upon reaching the small port of Athinio, conveniently located near the island's center unlike the main ferry port, a comfortable, air-conditioned mini-bus will be waiting for you. A guide, fluent in Greek, English, French, and Italian, will accompany you, providing insightful information.
Your first stop will be Oia, a short drive away. As you wander through its narrow streets, you'll be captivated by stunning views of the iconic whitewashed Cycladic houses.
Perched on a dramatic cliff, Oia offers breathtaking vistas and numerous points of interest, including the Byzantine castle ruins and the Oia Art Gallery.
Next, you'll visit Fira, Santoriniâs capital, situated in the heart of the island, opposite the dormant volcano. Fira is known for its natural beauty and cosmopolitan vibe. In addition to exploring museums and galleries like the Archaeological Museum of Thera, the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the Art of The Loom Gallery, and the Orion Art Gallery, you'll find an array of cafés, restaurants, and shops.
You'll have approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes in Oia and 2.5 to 3 hours in Fira, providing ample time to enjoy the island's dining spots with spectacular caldera views. Your guide will recommend places to visit and arrange a meeting time for your return to the bus.
If you haven't experienced it yet, Santorini is a must-visit destination, celebrated as one of the most beautiful and enchanting Greek islands.

The bus takes you to two locations (Oia and Fira) but you have plenty of time on your own to go about your business. Our tour-guide on the bus was very informative and polite with suggestions about spots to grab lunch and coffee. I would have preferred to stay for the sunset but I guess you need to stay overnight for that. Next time 🙂
This is a simple excursion which is 100 percent my style. You take the boat. Get off. Do what you want. Go where you want and come back at a certain time that everyone is clear about. The boat was big and felt safe. We've been on smaller ferries. Would recommend to anybody that likes doing there own thing on vacation.
