Your journey begins at the Naxos Bus Transfer Office, conveniently located just outside Naxos Port.
From there, you will venture straight to your first destination, Kaloxylos, a serene village inhabited by only 50 people. Prepare to be captivated as you explore a historic building housing the island's first electric company and witness the pioneering electric oil-press. Savor the exquisite flavors of extra virgin olive oil through a delightful tasting session. Afterwards, wander through the enchanting narrow streets of the village and marvel at the fascinating exhibits showcased in its folklore museum (optional visit).
Your next stop will take you to the lively year-round village of Filoti. You will visit its central church, meander past the Venetian Tower of Barozzi, and leisurely stroll through the charming neighborhood of Fasolas. Immerse yourself in history as we visit century-old shops, including a grocer, barber, tailor, smith, and carpenter.
Throughout your excursion, you will be enchanted by captivating tales of local life, both past and present. Following a refreshing break at the local "kafeneio," where you will indulge in the authentic flavors of traditional Greek coffee, you will have the privilege of visiting a "mitato" a local shepherd's hut. Welcomed by the hospitable owners, you will have the opportunity to observe or even participate in their daily tasks.
You will gather milk, engage in the time-honored process of cheese-making, and share a heartwarming meal around the family table, featuring fresh Naxian products. This unique experience offers an insider's perspective on the daily lives of the locals and an opportunity to partake in hands-on activities such as milking and cheese-making, following age-old techniques.

- This is a small group tour of maximum 16 participants
- The shepherd's hut you will visit is an actual house to the owners rather than just a business establishment. Enjoy this unique experience and try not to be too demanding with alternative dietary options (vegan, lactose free) because they will be very limited
- The tour is easy and appropriate for pregnant women but it is always recommended that they don't taste the fresh cheese
- The tour is ideal for families and suitable for all ages
- Availability of hands-on activities at the hut (milking and cheese making) are due to seasonality

Good but would have liked more time for the cheese making
Nice tour that takes you to the best bits of the island but I would have preferred a more hands on experience with the cheese making. I think they should change this.
