A great option for those who want to visit the volcano of Santorini without spending too much time or money is the following tour.
Pickup from your accommodation is arranged at 09:20 AM, ensuring an easy transfer to the Old Port of Fira. The boat departs daily from the port at 11:00 AM. After a short 10-minute trip, the boat arrives at Erinia, a small bay of the active volcano. The ship will remain there for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and if you wish, you can follow a small path to reach the top, where the active craters are located. There, you can take pictures, see the rocks still smoking, and experience the strong smell of brimstone.
After returning to the boat, we depart for the island of Palaia Kameni, where the hot springs are located, the famous natural mud baths created after volcanic eruptions. In the small bay of St. Nicholas, the water temperature varies from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius, as it constantly mixes with normal seawater.
The boat remains here for about 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to swim. There's no beach, so you will need to climb down the boat's stairs. You will swim approximately 30 meters to reach the interior of the small bay of the Hot Springs.
After your swim in the thermal waters, the boat returns to the port by 14:00 PM, and you will be transferred back to your accommodation, arriving at 15:00 PM.

Rarely, bad weather may also mean that, for your safety, a different itinerary is used. Here, no refund is possible. The tour organizer will always offer an equivelant itinerary taking the same amount of time and visiting equally impressive places (just those not so prone to bad weather) and offering an equally enjoyable experience that you are sure to treasure.
