Description
This horse riding experience on the scenic trails of Sifnos is designed for everyone, whether you are a confident rider, a curious beginner or a bit hesitant but eager to try. Unlike classical horse riding or other equestrian activities, no prior knowledge or experience is required. All that is needed is an open mind, a willingness to follow a few simple instructions and the desire to immerse yourself in something truly unique.
The journey begins in Fyrogia, following one of the island's most central trails that passes through Profitis Ilias and Vathi. The trail crosses rugged mountains and the peaceful valley of Skafi before a long ascent past the monastery of Taxiarchis and the cave of Vougnou. A plateau is reached at the top, from which the descent continues toward the church of Panagia Niliou (Our Lady of the Sun), offering breathtaking views of the sea toward Kimolos and Milos. After a short rest, the trail leads back to Fyrogia.
An experienced instructor is present throughout, providing guidance to ensure comfort and confidence. The trails of Sifnos allow you to explore at a relaxed pace, leaving behind any preconceptions. Fyrogia to Panagia Niliou Trail
Your adventure begins in Fyrogia as you set off along one of the island's most prominent trails, a route that connects to Profitis Ilias, Vathi, and other captivating destinations. You will cross the rugged mountains and make your way through the tranquil valley of Skafi before embarking on a steady ascent. Along the way, you will pass the historic monastery of Taxiarchis and the cave of Vougnou, adding a touch of mystery to the journey. At the summit, a vast plateau rewards you with panoramic views, before you begin your descent on the mountain's far side. The trail winds down to reveal the stunning church of Panagia Niliou, a peaceful haven with breathtaking vistas of the endless blue sea and the neighboring islands of Kimolos and Milos. After a well-deserved rest to soak in the serenity and admire the views, you will make your way back to Fyrogia.
