Discover a unique artistic experience in the heart of the Cyclades with the Marble Workshop Kanakari in Naxos. Surrounded by olive and almond trees and overlooking the majestic Mount Zeus, this outdoor workshop invites you to step into the world of ancient Greek sculptors and experience the timeless beauty of Naxian marble.
During this hands-on 3-hour workshop, you will learn the traditional art of marble carving using both manual and electric tools. Guided step by step in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, you will shape authentic marble from Naxos into your own personal creation. Whether you choose to carve a pendant, bowl, candle holder, Cycladic figure, abstract sculpture or jewellery piece, you will leave with a meaningful handmade souvenir crafted by you.
Naxos has been famous since antiquity for its exceptional marble, used in some of the most celebrated works of ancient Greece. This workshop offers not only a creative activity, but also a connection to the island's rich artistic heritage and centuries-old craftsmanship.
All materials and equipment are included, including marble stones, chisels, hammers, electric tools, protective glasses, masks, gloves and ear protection. The experience is suitable for beginners and designed for anyone who wishes to discover sculpture in a fun and accessible way.
Workshops take place every late afternoon from 17:00 PM during the summer season, with occasional morning sessions depending on availability and weather conditions. With a maximum capacity of six participants, the experience remains intimate, personal and ideal for couples, friends, solo travelers and families. Children over 11 years old are welcome with parental approval.
Above all, this workshop is about creativity, discovery and enjoyment. Marble is eternal and so are the memories you will create in Naxos.
