Conquer the summit of Mt. Papas in Iraklia and see this piece of paradise from above. The hike starts from the village of Panagia and the first part of the trail is the most challenging because of the steep slopes.
Under your local guide's direction, you will pause occasionally to rest and take beautiful photos. When you reach the top of the mountain you will be rewarded for your effort by awesome, breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and nearby islands. With clear skies even the top of Mt. Psiloritis on Crete is visible!
During the hike, your guide will provide a thorough presentation about nature and also the history, myths, and traditions of Iraklia. If we are lucky you will meet goats that graze freely in the mountains, as well as rare vultures and birds of prey.
On your way back, you will walk past the old church of Profitis Ilias and follow the old stone trail that leads back to the village.
Private tours are provided upon request.
