Experience the charm of Sifnos with this 4-hour traditional cooking class set in the idyllic surroundings of a sunny farm. One of the most captivating activities on the island, this class allows you to explore Sifnos' culinary heritage. As you cook alongside fellow participants, you will uncover the secrets behind the island's traditional diet, engaging in friendly conversations and immersing yourself in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the farm. You will meet your hosts at 10:00 am, where you will begin by introducing yourself and discussing the rich history of the farm, the distinctive Sifnian cuisine, and the cultivation of local vegetables.
Throughout your visit, a friendly, English-speaking assistant will be on hand to answer any questions you have and ensure your experience is both enjoyable and informative.
At 10:30 am, you will dive into preparing your healthy, seasonal menu for the day. Together with your hosts, you will craft two refreshing salad dishes, two savory appetizers, and two main courses. To complement your meal, you can enjoy a choice of local dry white wine or sweet sun-dried red wine. For dessert, indulge in a selection of fruits, varying with the seasons, such as watermelon, melon, pears, apricots, and damsons, each unique and grown from our own organic seeds.
At noon you will take a leisurely walk through the farm, learning about farming traditions from 100 years ago. You will visit the goats and sample fresh fruits and vegetables straight from the garden. Your next stop is a nearby pottery workshop, where you will be treated to a demonstration of traditional ceramics. You will also have the chance to purchase a piece of authentic pottery to take home as a souvenir.
By 1:00 pm, you will return to the farm to savor the delicious dishes you have prepared, enjoying the fruits of your labor in the tranquil farm setting.
